H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator is a comedy-horror movie about bringing the dead back to life. In this film a young medical student (Bruce Abbott) and his fiance have their lives turned upside down when a new student(Jeffrey Combs) arrives from Switzerland. This new student has developed a serum that can 'Re-Animate' dead corpses... but there's a catch, the corpses become extremely violent.

Jeffrey Combs steals the show in this one, his portrayal of the creepy and unusual medical student who's obsessed with death is remarkable. He truly makes you think you're looking at a complete psycho. Bruce Abbott is also very competent as the promising young medical student who gets pulled into the twisted experiments of bringing the dead to life.

The story itself is fun, there are some points that make you scratch your head, but then again, it IS a movie after all. There's no attempt to make it overly believable, which is good when you're watching a movie that's this 'out there'. The effects are fairly good as well, although it was released in 1985 so there are limitations. Overall this is a very good flick, and it has a cult following to say the least.
